Das Salon-Programm der transmediale.06 praesentiert kuenstlerische Projekte und
Podiumsdiskussionen zu aktuellen Fragen der Kunst und digitalen Kultur.
Deutsche und internationale Kunstprojekte und Initiativen stellen sich - work
in progress - dem Publikum vor und laden zum Gedankenaustausch ein. Kuratoren
und Kritiker beleuchten die Kunstszenen einzelner Laender, darunter Italien,
Belarus, Moldawien, Neuseeland, Australien, Kanada, Brasilien und China. In
offener Folge sprechen Kuenstlerinnen und Kuenstler der Ausstellung 'Smile
Machines' ueber ihr Werk. Am Abend schliessen Performances das Programm ab.

2. Alte Arte - Moldawisches Kulturmagazin

Alte Arte ist ein Kunst- und Kulturmagazin im moldawischen Fernsehen. Es ist
Fernsehen ueber Kunst und Kunst im Fernsehen und informiert ueber regionale und
internationale Ereignisse im Bereich zeitgenoessischer Kunst.

3. Panel: Art und Copyright
Samstag, 4. Februar, 12 Uhr
Kunst und Oekonomie haben jeweils ihre eigenen Regeln. Heute stehen sich die
beiden Modelle von freiem und proprietaerem Wissen gegenueber. Waehrend das
Urheberrecht hierfuer Rahmenbedingungen schafft, versuchen Kunstpraxis und ihre
Diskurse, diese immer wieder in Frage zu stellen.

4. Readme 100 - Temporary Software Art

Das Festival 'Readme 100' beschaeftigt sich mit dem Thema Produktion in Bezug
auf Software, Software-Kunst und Software-Kultur. Die Praesentation zeigt
Projekte, die fuer Readme 100 in Dortmund in Auftrag gegeben wurden. Ausserdem
wird die Publikation, die in Zusammenarbeit mit der transmediale entstand,
erstmals vorgestellt.

Die Kuratorin Tatiana Novikova aus Minsk praesentiert neue Arbeiten von
russischen und belarussischen Kuenstlern, die ein aehnliches Gefuehl fuer Zeit
und Ort haben. Was der russische Dichter A. Blok einst den elektrischen Traum
nannte, ist kein reiner Science Fiction Film mehr, sondern kommt dem wirklichen
Leben immer naeher.

8. Su Ballard: Considering Digital Arts in New Zealand
Montag, 6. Februar, 19 Uhr
Aotearoa Digital Arts (ADA) ist Neuseelands einziges digitales
Kuenstlernetzwerk. 70 Kuenstler diskutieren die Natur digitaler Praxis, die
Methoden, mit denen Geschichte aufgezeichnet und konstruiert wird und die Arten
von Beziehungen, die zwischen Publikum und Galerien entstehen koennen. Die
Praesentation zeigt, wie ADA und seine Kuenstler digitale Geschichte(n) in
Neuseeland konstruieren.

The Salon programme of transmediale.06 presents artistic projects and panel
discussions about current issues in art and digital culture. German and
international work in progress projects and initiatives present their work and
invite the audience for an exchange of ideas. Curators and critics discuss the
art scenes in countries like Italy, Belarus, Moldova, New Zealand, Australia,
Canada, Brazil, and China. Artists participating in the Smile Machines
exhibition talk about their work. Throughout the festival, the transmediale
Salon features in-depth conversations about contemporary art practices. In the
evenings, the programme concludes with performances.

8. Su Ballard: Considering Digital Arts in New Zealand

Aotearoa Digital Arts (ADA) is New Zealands only digital artist network. The 70
artists associated with ADA are engaged in discussions of the nature of digital
practice; the ways that these histories are being recorded and constructed; and
the kinds of relationships that might be emerging across public and gallery
spaces. The presentation considers the manner in which ADA and its artists are
constructing digital histories in New Zealand Aotearoa.

This panel discusses the role that European media arts and technology
organisations have been playing in the recent developments of a Chinese
