Internationale Kuenstlerdatenbank jetzt online

Was Sie schon immer ueber Kuenstler aus aller Welt wissen wollten, 
aber muehsam suchen mussten, finden Sie jetzt mit einen Klick. 
culturebase.net heisst das neue Who is Who der internationalen Kunst- 
und Kulturszene.

Ausfuehrliche Portraets zeitgenoessischer Kuenstler aus mehr als 150 
Laendern und Gebieten, von Afghanistan bis Zypern, lassen sich ab 
sofort ueber die multimediale Datenbank abrufen. Bislang wurden 1.200 
Kuenstler erfasst, die in den Genres Bildende Kunst, Film, Fotografie 
und Design, Theater, Tanz oder Musik sowie Literatur und Wissenschaft 
taetig sind.

Von Fachjournalisten geschriebene Portraets liefern detaillierte 
Informationen. Audio- und Videofiles, Bilder und Texte ermoeglichen 
zusaetzlich einen direkten Einblick in die Arbeit der Kuenstler. Die 
Texte sind in der Anfangsphase auf Englisch, Deutsch, Daenisch und 
Schwedisch abrufbar.

Neu ist auch die Suchmoeglichkeit nach so genannten 'Crossroads'. 
Eine 'Crossroad' kann zum Beispiel 'Islam' sein, 'Globalisierung' 
oder 'Dekonstruktion'. Die Trefferliste enthaelt - nach Prioritaet 
geordnet - alle Kuenstler, die sich in ihren Arbeiten mit diesen 
Themen auseinandersetzen.

culturebase.net ist das Ergebnis einer strategischen Kooperation 
zwischen dem Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, The Danish Center 
for Culture and Development in Kopenhagen, Intercult in Stockholm und 
Visiting Arts in London. Die Kuenstlerdatenbank ist ein Werkzeug fuer 
diese Zusammenarbeit, die vom Haus der Kulturen der Welt initiiert 
wurde. culturebase.net wurde gefoerdert mit Mitteln aus dem 
EU-Programm Culture 2000.

Das kostenfreie Angebot wendet sich an alle Kunst- und 
Kulturinteressierten. Journalisten und Wissenschaftler koennen 
culturebase.net fuer ihre Recherchen benutzen. Mit dem 
internationalen Kulturaustausch befassten Institutionen dient das 
Angebot als Kontaktboerse. Bisher nur in ihrem Heimatland bekannte 
Kuenstler koennen sich via culturebase.net einem groesseren Publikum 
vorstellen. Das neue Angebot soll so 'Entdeckungsreisen durch 
interkulturelle Gemeinsamkeiten und Differenzen' ermoeglichen, 
erhoffen sich die Initiatoren.

The International Artists Database Now Online

Whatever you always wanted to know about artists from all over the 
world but had to look long and hard to find, now you can find it with 
one click. culturebase.net is the name of the new Who's Who of the 
international art and culture scene.

Detailed portraits on artists from more than 150 countries and 
territories, from Afghanistan to Zanzibar, are immediately available 
through this multimedia database. So far culturebase.net contains 
information about 1,200 artists who work in the genres of visual 
arts, film, photography, design, theatre, dance and music, as well as 
literature and science.

Portraits written by experts offer detailed information about the 
included artists. Additionally, audio and video files, images and 
texts enable the user to have direct insight into artists' work. All 
information can be accessed in English, German, Danish and Swedish in 
this initial phase.

Furthermore, there is a search method for so-called 'crossroads'. An 
example of a 'crossroad' is a term like 'Islam', 'Globalisation' or 
'Deconstruction'. The list of results from a search like this 
includes all artists who deal with such topics in their works-listed 
by relevance.

culturebase.net is the result of a strategic cooperation between four 
European partner institutions: The House of World Cultures in Berlin, 
The Danish Center for Culture and Development in Copenhagen, 
Intercult in Stockholm and Visiting Arts in London. The database is a 
tool for collaboration, which has been initiated by the House of 
World Cultures. culturebase.net is funded by the EU programme Culture 
2000.

This free service will serve all those who are interested in art and 
culture. Journalists and academics can also use culturebase.net for 
their research. The service works as a virtual contact zone for 
institutions that are engaged with intercultural exchange. Artists 
known earlier only in their countries can now present their work to a 
wider audience. In this way, in initiators hope that culturebase.net 
will enable 'journeys of discovery through intercultural similarities 
and differences.
